Lg P970 Optimus Black

LG_Optimus_Black_P970
The focus of Android is now shifting from just utility to looks. Riding on the success of the Optimus and the well-applauded Optimus 2x, LG is now following the trend by introducing the Optimus Black. Not a part of the Black Label series known for having some of the best looking phones, the Black, nevertheless, manages to score in the looks department. It is a complete touch device with a solid build but feels like a smooth piece of plastic. However, LG is busy boasting about the 4-inch Nova display as the brightest display ever in a smart-phone. In our opinion, the phone has a bright display but it isn't something that needs to be tom-tommed. Indeed, when on full brightness, the phone even worked as a flash light.
Operating on Android v2.2 when all the latest devices are on v2.3 is a letdown. It did allowed us to configure Gmail account, Gtalk, search the web, watch videos, download apps, stay connected to social world but the overall performance was a bit slow. Even while searching the phonebook, the contacts appeared only when we finished typing out the full name. The 5 MP camera onboard managed to capture decent images but there was a huge shutter lag.
And the battery hardly managed to last a day with average use.

TECH SPECS:
Android 2.2; 4-inch display; 5 MP camera;

2GB internal, 512 MB RAM, 32 GB expandable; EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G; 109 gm; 1500 mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy S1

In our opinion, the Galaxy S is the best Android phone to date. The HTC Desire and Motorola XT720 come close, but the Galaxy S rules. The Samsung smart-phone's 4-inch AM0LED display is bright and ideal for multimedia use. Though the phone appears to be awkwardly huge at first glance, it is really very sleek and easily slides into the pocket. Topped with Augmented Reality browser, A-GPS, Android Marketplace and Samsung App World, the Galaxy S gets its power from a 1 GHz processor. Samsung has given the phone a customised homescreen.

Motorola Backflip Android

All Android phones available in the market look the same. Most of them are touch-driven devices with a few also sporting a slide-out keypad. But here comes an innovative and interesting phone from Motorola's stable— the BackFlip .
Living up to its name, the Backflip has the touch display on the top and the QWERTY keypad at the bottom. This is what differentiates it from the regular flips in which the main display and keyboard are hidden inside. Right opposite the display is the 'Backtrack'. Replicating the work of a trackpad or a joystick, it is designed to be used with the index finger that is rendered useless when one is using the QWERTY keypad. Using the 'Backtrack', one can navigate up, down, left and right. Interestingly, it can even be used for opening an application with a double tap. However, we found that accessing the 'Backtrack' along with the physical keypad wasn't as easy as we imagined. The 'search' key that is usually found below the display has been moved to the left corner of the QWERTY keypad that can be accessed only when the flip lid is open. When held like a bar, the keypad automatically gets locked, making it easy to use.

The innovation in design helped this flip device score full marks in the looks as well as innovation and utility departments. It was the ancient version of the Android operating system (v1.5) that disappointed. Still, it managed to handle emails, updates on social networking sites, web search and downloading third party application with ease.

Zeus Android

the Zeus is neatly designed. It sports a decent capacitive display just below which two rows of keys are placed. The first row has four feather-touch keys for menu, home, search and back, while the LED-lit second row hosts the call answer and disconnect keys.
Easy to use, the responsive touch interface made typing long messages and emails simple. The homescreen is divided into multiple panes and is customisable. The notification bar at the top is divided into two: system for accessing date, time and connectivity, and for notifications. Although, it operates on Android v1.6, it will get the more recent Android v2.1 upgrade in the coming days. Powered by a 600 MHz processor, it smartly manages to take on the functionality of a smartphone and checking emails and web browsing was a nice experience. Sony Ericsson W8

Although Sony Ericsson is pushing it as a music phone by labelling it a Walkman device, the W8 is still an Android smartphone. Compact and good looking, it has a scratch-resistant display. Sadly, it runs on outdated Android v2.1 and is powered by a 600 MHz processor and has a l68 MB RAM. Although on the spec sheet it scores less than the Micromax and Lava phones, the W8 is better in term of hardware and user interface. The 3.15 MP camera captures decent images and the music player is loud and clear. The phone handles emails, browsing, application download with ease.

Google Chrome Browser

ESSENTIAL BROWSER EXTENSIONS FOR GOOGLE CHROME.
Chance upon an interesting website, and would like to save, analyze, or share the information somewhere? What if you are caught up in a fix and would like to savor an article comprehensively when you have the time -all from the comfort of your mobile phone or tablet? Don't fret - browsers these days come with ample support for easy information annotation and retrieval. For users of Google's Chrome browser, here are some of the best extensions out there that'll help you get more done in your web browse

Awesome_screenshots
Awesome Screenshot:
Screen capturing web pages is made easy with the aptly named Awesome Screenshot extension. Shortcut keys? Don't need any. With Awesome Screenshot, you can easily capture an entire webpage or just a portion with just a click of a button. That's not all - the extension allows you to make minor edits to the captured screenshot: you can crop, blur text or add important notes. Lastly, you can choose to save it locally or upload to awesomescreenshot.com for a shareable link.

Evernote
Clip to Evernote:

If you have signed up for an Evernote account, the Clip to Evernote extension is a handy addition (think of Evernote as a digital scrapbook service of sorts). The Clip to Evernote Chrome extension makes it easy to create quick Evernote notes; you can organize your favorite text or images easily into your Evernote account with a single click. Or, if you have nothing to add on, you can also access the extension to refer back to old notes. Best yet, Evernote comes with sync support on most mobile operating systems such as Android, BlackBerry Windows Mobile and Apple iOS, which means you can edit and read your notes on-the-go.

instachrome
 Instachrome:

The Instachrome extension is extremely useful if you already have an existing Instapaper account. Instapaper lets users save online articles for later reading, handy indeed when you're pressed for time. This is where Instachrome comes in handy, not only with a simple button that allows for one-click saves, but also, quick and easy access to unread, starred and archived items saved previously.

linkpush
LinkPush:

The LinkPush extension works simply enough - it sends the current webpage link you are browsing on your computer, instantaneously to your mobile phone. Of course, that's provided that you have downloaded its corresponding phone application as well (only available on phones with ANDROID2.2 and above).

scribefire
ScribeFire:

If you are one for opinions, the ScribeFire extension is a handy add-on for the serial note-taker. The Chrome ScribeFire allows you to easily post to all of your existing blog accounts, ranging from Wordpress, Blogger, TypePad, Windows Live Spaces, Tumblr, Posterous, Xanga, LiveJournal, or any other blog that supports the MetaWeblog or MovableType APIs. Sony Ericsson Xperia arc_sony ericson xpera arc

The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc comes as one of the latest additions to an increasingly crowded Android space, but with a fairly unique preposition: A huge 4,2-inch Reality Display touchscreen with Sony's Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology.

The first thing that strikes you about the arc Is how thin it is, at just 8.7mm thick it is almost half the thickness of most phones available today. If you look carefully at the back of the phone, you will also notice that the arc stands out from the others because of its curved profile.

while we were fans of the simple and clean design, we felt that more work could have been done to improve the tiny power button, which took a bit of effort to press. On the other hand, the camera shutter button was a welcome addition in an age where most smartphone makers somehow decided to stop including dedicated camera buttons on their devices. This at least makes snapping pictures so much easier than having to tap on the screen.Overall, the handling experience was positive, as the arc balances beautifully in the hand. If anything, the arc feels a little too light, and depending on how you hold it, can feel flimsy and fragile.

The arc comes powered by Android, specifically version 2,3 (a.k.a. Gingerbread), Timescape reappears on the arc and can be easily added on the home screen as a widget. Combine Timescape together with a photo/video widget, and you get easy access to social networking updates and multimedia files.

The main draw of the arc is its 4.2-inch TFT-LCD screen with Sony's Mobile BRAVIA Engine image processing technology, which aims to enhance video  playback. The result is beautiful visuals when playing videos and games on the device as well as  while navigating through the smartphone's stylish interface.

The multimedia showmanship doesn't stop there as its snappy  8,1-megapixel camera produces clear and sharp photos with accurate blacks and colors,Because of its f/2.4 lens, visible details in night shots are also easier to capture without having  to flush them out with the available LED flash,Sony Ericsson's arc is good-looking, functional and primed for success. If the profile. 4.2-Inch awesome display doesn't bowl you over for some reason, its impossibly slim build will. Of course, this smartphone isn't perfect - minor flaws like impractical buttons and average battery  performance take the overall score down a few notches, but the gorgeous widescreen display and capable camera are two of its biggest advantages, While It comes with a relatively standard 1GHz processor, you do get an extremely responsive device with more than enough horsepower for fluid multi- tasking. All in all, the Xperia arc  is a highly functional phone that balances both productivity and multimedia prowess

DISPLAY:4.2-inch TFT capacitive screen

CAMERA:8,1 megapixels / LED flash / Autofocus

Motorola Charm Android

Motorola tried to be innovative with the BackFlip and FlipOut in the past. And now with its latest Android phone, the Charm, the company has chosen to go the way of BlackBerry looks. The Charm comes across as a great combination of a touchscreen and a QWERTY keypad. Irrespective of the smooth physical keyboard, one can easily type the on-screen keypad. Running the Android v2.1, the device comes with a customisable user interface MotoBlur that divides the homescreen into multiple panes. Configuring a Gmail account simply requires the user name and the password but for Outlook accounts manual settings would be needed. QuickOffice viewer, mySpace, Facebook, are few apps that the handset comes pre-installed with. A high resolution screen (above 320 x 240) would have made the phone ideal for multimedia viewing.

2.8-inch capacitive touch display;

3.15 MP camera;

htc android 2.3

et ready for the glasses-free-3D avalanche. Fresh off the success of Nintendo's 3DS game system, countless companies are hustling to market with their own takes on the tech. One we're actually excited about: the HTCEvo 3D Phone (price not set), which features a 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D display. And while it won't have the 3DS's preloaded stash of 3D games, the Android-powered device does feature a pair of 5-megapixel cameras for shooting 3D photos and HD video.

If you live online, the EVO offers a big, beautiful, and powerful window to the world. The first WiMAX phone in the U.S. is a terrific platform for streaming media and Web browsing, and it gets your laptop online with Sprint's 4G network.

Galaxy Nexus Prime S

Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus
The open source code for Android's next big iteration, dubbed lce Cream Sandwich, has been released into the wild and we should be seeing a slate of products running the system before the end of the year.

The Ice Cream Sandwich system is said to be Google's answer to Android's divergence problem, uniting the various different form factors under a set of standard features acoss all smartphones and tablets.

Some of the system's new features include advanced facial recognition, better data monitoring, integrated social networking platforms, imaging enhancements and additional near field communication applications.

Google has partnered with Samsung to launch the first official handset to run Android 4.0, the Galaxy Nexus, which features a 4.65-inch 1280x720-pixel resolution super AMOLD Plus display.

In addition to the new Android system and top-notch screen the Nexus will also feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera and will come in HSPA+ and LTE models.

It looks as though the first Ice Cream Sandwich-running slate might also be just as close as the Nexus, with Lenovo rumoured to be readying a 10.1-inch slate running version 4.0 and a newTegra 3 chip before the year's end.

Samsung Galaxy Fit_samsng glaxy fit

The Samsung Galaxy Fit looks sleek and modern. It has a cheap feel, but it's actually sturdier than its looks. There are two colors available chromed silver and while. The buttons, except for the middle one, are touch sensitive. All the other standard ports are present as well: the mini-USB, power button, volume rocker, 3.5mm earphone port and the microSD card slot.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit, it packs a 3.31-inch 240x320 capacitive touchscreen.  The brightness level is respectable which makes it fairly visible even under the sun.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit packs a 600Mhz processor and is capable of Bluetooth, WiFi, HSDPA 3G and GPRS. It packs a scanty 160MB internal storage but is expandable to up to 32GB.

The phone is loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo, it runs pretty smoothly. Browsing through menus and opening apps are fairly snappy and delays are hardly noticeable.  It uses Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz Ul, which isn't as flashy as HTC's sense Ul but it very appealing in its own right.

The smartphone carries a 5-megapixel camera that is capable of geo-tagging and 15fps video recording. I'm very much impressed with the quality of the shots it took. the smartphone doesn't have flash so it would be best to take pictures in places with good lighting. The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Fit is on-par with the industry standard.the Samsung Galaxy Fit provides a good overall user experience.

Ice Cream Sandwich_Galaxy s

Google released the source code for Ice Cream Sandwich, and a mere four days later the new OS has made its way onto Samsung's Galaxy S II.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus brings a ton of new and very welcome features with Ice Cream Sandwich. The design is sharp, the screen is gorgeous, and the internal performance is fantastic.

While ICS is looking good on the GSII's gorgeous AMOLED display, the port is still an alpha -- the Bluetooth, WiFi and other radios aren't functioning just yet, but work is ongoing, and future releases are coming soon.

ANDROID 4.0_android ice cream

Video calling upgrades

ICS will have not jusl face detection but voice detection In video calls. If there's more than one of you on your side of the video chat, the OS is able to automatically zoom in on the person talking. It can also apply hilarious' effects to faces and overlay avatars. Do people actually do that stuff?

Glasses-free 3D talents

Rather than shoehorning expensive specialist screens into Android hardware, Google has built support for head-coupled perspective (HCP) 3D into ICS. HCP uses your device's front-facing camera to track your head's movements, and constantly adjusts the image to create a 3D effect. Check out HCP 3D at tinyurl.com/amazingi3D, or download the clever (and free) iOS app,I3D.

O-click sharing

Tnisis the big one. Using NFC, this will allow sharing of contacts, links and media just by touching devices. If you're watching a YouTubc video on your phone, tap it on your tablet and the vid will pick up where you left off. If you want to game with a fellow Android user, touch devices and they'll download it and join you in moments. You can get a taste now with Bump (free, IOS, Android), which does much of what O-click will do: bump' two devices running the app, and contacts, photos, music and apps are shared via the 'net (rather than direct, as O-click sharing will).
