TRACKING 3D

et ready for the glasses-free-3D avalanche. Fresh off the success of Nintendo's 3DS game system, countless companies are hustling to market with their own takes on the tech. One we're actually excited about: the HTCEvo 3D Phone (price not set), which features a 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D display. And while it won't have the 3DS's preloaded stash of 3D games, the Android-powered device does feature a pair of 5-megapixel cameras for shooting 3D photos and HD video.

If you live online, the EVO offers a big, beautiful, and powerful window to the world. The first WiMAX phone in the U.S. is a terrific platform for streaming media and Web browsing, and it gets your laptop online with Sprint's 4G network.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S

samsung's Galaxy S was one of the very best of last year's .Android blowers. All it was crying out for was better build quality, a bigger - 4.2-inch, let's say -screen in a slimmer body, a dualcore processor, better camera and the very latest version of Android to be well-nigh perfect. Samsung Chat 335

For all the social butterflies out there, Samsung has launched the Chat 335, a QWERTY phone with an optical trackpad. The screen is a 2.4-inch LQVGA TFT LCD, and is encased in a slim, metallic design. Native SNS allows for quick access to Facebook, Twitter, etc. It also supports IMs like MSN and Yahoo. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth,
USB 2.0 and a 2-megger camera are other features that the phone offers. Storage can be expanded up to 8GB.

Motorola XT800

The XT800 also froze up a couple of times, especially when we had had an app open and locked the screen with the function still running in the background. The handset that we reviewed came with a 2GB add-on memory card and the external memory on the XT800 is expandable up to 32GB.

The handset supports charging via the USB, rendering the SD card inaccessible when you are charging the handsetvia USB. The battery lasted us for more than a day on a full charge with intermittent use of GPRS (browsing, downloading apps etc) and more than a handful of voice

calls and SMSes. This is commendable considering most smartphones barely last a working day and they are not even working on a dual-SIM mode.

Viewsonic V350

The V350 smartphone is a dual-SIM smartphone from Viewsonic that runs on Android Froyo (Ver 2.2).

With a 3.5-inch display, thehandset comes with a HVGA capacitive touch screen,5-megapixel auto-focus

camera, micro-SD expansion,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and assisted GPS navigation.

Samsung Craft SCH-R900

The Samsung Craft, the world's first 4G phone, feels like a good 3G feature phone. That instantly makes it the flashiest phone MetroPCS has, but moreover, this is just a nice handset with a nice high-res screen great for video playback.

Samsung Rugby II SGH-A847

Samsung Rugby II SGH-A847 (AT&T).The Samsung Rugby II is an excellent choice for voice-focused consumers, field workers, and bargain hunters alike, with its excellent call quality and sensible pricing on AT&T. This handset truly embraces what it means to be a voice phone and doesn't try to be a pale imitation of a smartphone.

TORCH 2

The original Torch was the best touch screen BlackBerry to date, but kept the big QWERTY keyboard just in case -belt and braces. Word is the sequel will look much the same but pack  twice the processing power, at 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM and version 6.1 of BlackBerry's OS.

BLACKBERRY 9900

Research In Motion is also upping the stakes with its BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone, albeit in one less dimension. It will be the Canadian manufacturers' thinnest and most powerful device yet, measuring 10.5 mm and boasting a zippy 1.2 GHz processor. At long last RIM has decided to bless the Bold range with a capacitive touch-screen (2.8") sporting a very fine 287 dots per inch, but not yet cracking the iPhone 4's 326 dpi Retina display. It also runs on BlackBerry's brand-spanking new 7 operating system which brings improved graphics and browsing, plus universal voice search to the table.
