Research In Motion is also upping the stakes with its BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone, albeit in one less dimension. It will be the Canadian manufacturers' thinnest and most powerful device yet, measuring 10.5 mm and boasting a zippy 1.2 GHz processor. At long last RIM has decided to bless the Bold range with a capacitive touch-screen (2.8") sporting a very fine 287 dots per inch, but not yet cracking the iPhone 4's 326 dpi Retina display. It also runs on BlackBerry's brand-spanking new 7 operating system which brings improved graphics and browsing, plus universal voice search to the table.
