Asus PadFone: Phone or Pad?

Asus has given birth to a laptop with a mobile nestled in its guts.Asus' Android-powered Padfone is the gadget equivalent of Newcastle's most famous sons. Can the mutant parasite be separated from its host? Well... yes. currently just a prototype, is built round a four-inch Android smartphone. Only when you dock the4.3ìn smartphone with the 10.1 tablet a _ten-inch slate_ vessel does it start to fully make sense, with the tablet sharing the phones processing power, operating system, 3G connection, apps and content. Also There's no computing power in the tab. although there is a front facing camera. Instead, it'll borrow and visually amplify what's on your phone. In return, it charges the phone's battery. Of course, without the phone the tablet is pretty much useles.

Android 4.0 is codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich

The next iteration of Android, scheduled for this winter, aims to bring the OS back from the brink of fragmentation by merging features from the mobile (Gingerbread) and tablet (Honeycomb) platforms.The overriding design theme will be based on Honeycomb's vector-like holographic look, with the slick task switcher and new resizable widgets from 3,1 taking centre stage. USB hosting support will be built in  and ail of the new NFC skills from 2.3.4 will be available across the board. Perhaps most exciting is that it'll end issues over app compatibility: If it works on a phone, it'll work (and work properly) on a tablet screen. Coupled with Google's pledge to keep all new Android devices from major manufacturers up to date for at least 18 months from their launch

(hardware permitting), it's just what Google needs for its OS to go stellar.

After months of speculation, Google has launched a social network to rival Facebook;it is  google plus.

Google Plus is Google's second social networking portal after Orkut. It integrates various services into one. It is a cross between Facebook and Twitter with a twist of its own.

Google's new service is designed to enable people to post status updates, share links and upload photos. If you want to become a Plus person, you have to be invited by someone who is already registered with the service. You would need a valid Google account. Yes, your Gmail account will be adequate enough.

*Circular Concept

Instead of posting an update that goes out to everyone, Google* enables users to create "circles" or groups, it is a simple grouping method, where you can drag and drop contacts in a chosen circle, such as a user's poker buddies, university friends, work colleagues and family members.Unlike Facebook, where you have to scroll through pages of people and then select update and do three other things in between, Google has kept it simple.There are recommended names from your chat and other lists who can be dragged into any particular group. This way when you post a picture, video or even updates of your status, you can choose to which circles these should be shown and which should be ignored.

"The 'circles' idea makes a lot of sense," said Ezra Gottheil, an analyst with Technology Business Research."It's smart, and while you can do something similar in Facebook, it's not Facebook's main thing. It's not as easy to do."

Hangout enables video chatting with groups of friends on Plus.

Google operating system for phones and tablets. A Google Plus application is already out for Android users to keeps them constantly active on this social system.

The one certainty is that Google is facing an uphill battle in taking on Facebook. While the social network has officially said that it has more than 500 million users, other sources recently have reported that the number now is more than 750 million.

Manage media on Android via WMP

*connect your Android phone to your PC.

*dialog box will prompt you to install your phones drivers.

*Run the installer to load the drivers that Windows needs to sync with your device.

Android Control Panel:

Your phone's control panel will contain several options for handling files:

*Manage media on your device.

*Import pictures and videos.

*Browse files;and 'Change general settings.



Windows will automatically select the default apps for managing music and photos, but you can change them if you want to just by clicking Change program under each option.

Import image files:

To import videos and photos from your phone s camera,

*double-click Import pictures and videos:Windows will automatically search your phones camera roll.

*click OK to start the import.

*Check the box to delete the files from your camera, or leave it unchecked to keep them.

*When all of the files are imported, an Explorer window will open to show you what you've transferred.
